Poor harddrives. If possible take out the still useful parts first such as screws, aluminium rings, stepper motor and magnets. You can also take out the platters and shredder only that. Now you mix any material and make it less easy to recycle. This is something like being destructive without using your brain.

A terrible waste of Neodymium magnets. Take the disk platters out and shred those instead. You probably need only a Torx T8 and a Torx T6 screwdriver to get the platters out of most 3.5inch (desktop size) hard disks.
